Gunmen storm Catholic Church, abduct nine worshippers during night vigil in Benue
DSP Edet Udeme said tactical teams have been deployed to ensure the safe release of the victims.
The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of nine worshippers at Ojije in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area.
The victims were reportedly abducted on Monday night while attending a vigil at St. John’s Catholic Church, Ojije, according to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Udeme stated that the Commissioner of Police has deployed all tactical teams across the state to the area to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
She reassured the public that the command remains committed to the safety and security of Benue residents at all times.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
