A male Nigerian pilgrim taking part in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage has reportedly died at Muzdalifah in Saudi Arabia after arriving from Arafat.

The deceased, said to be from Bauchi State, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday during the movement of pilgrims from Arafat to Muzdalifah for the overnight stay.

According to Very Nigerian, Saudi security officials and emergency medical workers were seen evacuating the body from the scene shortly after the incident.

Details surrounding the cause of death were still unclear at the time of filing this report.

Witnesses said the pilgrim was wheeled out by Saudi police officers alongside members of an emergency medical team, while two officials believed to be attached to the Bauchi State pilgrims contingent accompanied the evacuation process.

The report also stated that authorities had yet to officially confirm the identity of the deceased pilgrim, and the cause of death remained unclear.

The incident occurred during one of the most physically demanding stages of the Hajj pilgrimage, which involves continuous movement of pilgrims between holy sites under harsh weather conditions and heavy crowds.
