Hormuz tension: Iran leader says Navy ready to confront US
A statement attributed to Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, on Saturday warned that the country’s navy is fully prepared to confront United States forces amid growing tension over the Strait of Hormuz.
The message, which was shared on his Telegram channel, comes as both sides continue to exchange threats over the strategic waterway.
Khamenei, who has not appeared in public since before the conflict began, said Iran’s naval forces are on high alert and ready for action.
He stated that Iran’s “brave navy stands ready to make the enemies taste the bitterness of new defeats,” suggesting a strong warning to any foreign military presence in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical route for global oil shipments, and the ongoing standoff has raised concerns about possible disruptions and wider conflict.
