How Nigeria’s Defense Minister Matawalle attempted to bribe US official – Florida lawmaker Kimberly Daniels

Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 14 in the United States, has alleged that Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, attempted to bribe a U.S. official in a bid to influence the narrative surrounding a United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD) report.

Daniels made the claim in a video shared on her official Facebook page on Monday.

She alleged that the purported move was aimed at altering the findings of the UN-WCD report on alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, which she said had implicated the minister.

According to her, no form of pressure or inducement would stop her from speaking on the issue of killings of Christians in Nigeria.

“A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN-WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report,” she said in the video.

Daniels, who also serves as chairperson of the UN-WCD, had earlier called for Matawalle’s removal, alleging complicity in violence in parts of Nigeria including Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna States.

As of the time of filing this report, Bello Matawalle has not issued an official response to the allegations.
