INEC hands Wike-led PDP access code to portal as party confirms successful upload of Onor, other candidates
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesome Wike, has confirmed the successful uploading of the names of its candidates for the 2027 general elections to the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The development comes days after the party received access codes to the INEC portal on Monday.
Sources within the party disclosed that the exercise has progressed without any major challenges.
The first phase of the submission involves candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections. Under the electoral timetable, political parties have until July 7 to complete the process.
The PDP is fielding former senator Sandy Ojang Onor as its presidential candidate and is also presenting candidates for Senate and House of Representatives seats across the country.
The party is equally preparing to submit the names of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates in line with the schedule released by INEC.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the process has been smooth.
> “As you are aware, we have received the codes and we have commenced the uploading since Monday.
“We have not encountered any challenges. Everything is going on smoothly.
“As you know, it’s in phases; governorship and State House of Assembly have a different date for final submission, while that of the National Assembly and the Presidential will be closed by July 7.”
Mohammed said the party is working to ensure it meets the deadline for the current phase of submissions.
“So, we are working towards the deadline. It is not an easy task, but we are trying to meet up for the National Assembly and the Presidential, which is closing by the 7th,” he added.
