The Federal Government has disclosed that it is deploying all necessary measures, including international collaboration, to secure the safe release of the 47 teachers and students abducted from public and private schools in Yawota and Ahoro Esienle communities of Oriire Local Government Area.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, made the disclosure on Thursday during the commissioning of the remodelled 154-bed Premier Hotel in Ibadan.

Akume assured residents of Oyo State and the South-West that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to combat the growing cases of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.

> “I wish to assure you that every realistic measure, including international collaboration, is being taken to ensure that the kidnapped victims in Oriire Local Government are safely brought home without harm or avoidable loss of life,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and support security agencies through intelligence sharing and community collaboration, stressing that traditional rulers and faith-based institutions also have critical roles to play in improving security.

According to him, sustainable economic growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security, noting that the Tinubu administration has continued to invest heavily in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

Akume said the government has, over the past three years, improved inter-agency coordination, enhanced intelligence gathering, expanded technological surveillance, strengthened community-based security initiatives, and increased support for the armed forces and other security agencies.

He also disclosed that ongoing constitutional reforms at the National Assembly aimed at strengthening policing across all levels of government would be implemented once concluded.

The SGF maintained that the administration’s security interventions are already producing measurable results in several parts of the country and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian, investor and visitor can live, travel and conduct business in safety and confidence.
