JUST-IN: Obi, Bala Mohammed hold private political talks in Bauchi Govt House
Peter Obi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, on Thursday arrived in Bauchi State for a closed-door meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed.
The purpose of the visit was not immediately disclosed, as both politicians were engaged in a private meeting at the Presidential Lounge of the Government House, Bauchi, as of the time of filing this report.
Sources within the Government House indicated that the meeting may be connected to recent political developments and emerging alignments ahead of future elections, although no official confirmation has been provided.
Both leaders are expected to address journalists after the meeting.
Governor Bala Mohammed, who also chairs the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, had earlier hinted at shifting political engagements when he disclosed on March 31 that his preferred destination for defection was the African Democratic Congress during a meeting with an ADC delegation led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
However, the governor’s political posture appeared fluid shortly afterwards, as he also hosted the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on April 1 at the Government House in Bauchi.
