The Kaduna State Government has announced that the state was ranked as the third-best performing state in Nigeria in the 2025 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index, receiving an Excellent Four-Star Rating.

According to the government, the ranking serves as an independent endorsement of the reforms and development initiatives being carried out under the administration of Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement released on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the recognition highlights the progress the state has made in several critical areas.

He noted that the assessment reflected improvements in governance, fiscal management, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and social inclusion, which have been key priorities of the current administration.

The state government maintained that the ranking demonstrates the impact of ongoing efforts aimed at improving public service delivery and promoting sustainable development across Kaduna State.

According to the statement, the assessment was based on objective performance indicators as well as feedback from citizens.

Maiyaki said, “This recognition is significant because it comes from an independent and credible assessment that combines objective performance indicators with citizen feedback.

“It confirms that Kaduna State is making steady progress in strengthening institutions, improving governance outcomes and expanding opportunities for its citizens.”

The commissioner noted that the latest ranking was the latest in a series of independent assessments that had recognised improvements in governance and accountability in the state.

He recalled that Kaduna recently emerged as the top-ranked state in the country on the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index published by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity and also posted the highest score nationwide on the Control of Corruption Indicator.

Maiyaki said the recognitions underscored the impact of reforms and investments undertaken by the administration across critical sectors.

“These rankings are encouraging because they demonstrate that our efforts are yielding measurable results. However, our focus remains on improving the lives of our people through inclusive development, economic empowerment, quality service delivery and sustainable peace,” he said.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Uba Sani to building a peaceful, prosperous, transparent and globally competitive Kaduna State through sustained reforms and people-oriented policies.

The state government also expressed appreciation to citizens, development partners, traditional and religious institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Uba Sani has pursued a reform-driven agenda focused on fiscal discipline, rural and urban infrastructure development, healthcare expansion, educational improvement, agricultural growth and enhanced security.

The administration has consistently maintained that its policies are aimed at promoting inclusive growth, reducing poverty and restoring public confidence in government institutions. The latest ranking is expected to strengthen the government’s claims that its development initiatives are producing measurable outcomes.
