Kano APC supporters sleep on Abuja streets ahead of party convention
Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano State have been spotted sleeping on streets and within the premises of the National Mosque in Abuja as they await the party’s national convention scheduled for March 27 to 28, 2026.
The gathering is expected to draw thousands of delegates and loyalists from across the country, as the party prepares for key internal deliberations and political activities in the nation’s capital.
In a video circulating online, several individuals believed to be party supporters were seen lying on tiled floors and open spaces around the mosque. Many of them, reportedly from Kano, were dressed in coordinated attire, suggesting organised mobilisation for the event.
A voice heard in the background of the footage lamented the condition of the supporters, questioning why individuals facing economic hardship would travel long distances to support political leaders. The speaker described the scene as troubling, noting that many of those present appeared to be enduring difficult living conditions while in Abuja.
He also criticised what he portrayed as a contradiction between widespread poverty and continued political loyalty, suggesting that some individuals may have been motivated by small financial incentives to participate.
The development has sparked conversations around political mobilisation, welfare of party supporters, and the broader socio-economic realities facing many Nigerians.
The APC convention is expected to bring together top party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders, amid growing political activities ahead of future electoral contests.
