Kano Gov fires Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has removed the state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, from office.
The development was announced in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
According to the statement, the governor directed that the Head of Service be relieved of his appointment with immediate effect.
Governor Yusuf explained that the move forms part of ongoing steps by his administration to reform the state civil service and make it more effective.
He said the decision is aimed at repositioning the civil service in Kano State to ensure greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.
He directed Musa to handover the affairs of the office by Wednesday to the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota who is directed to serve in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of Kano State during his tenure.
According to the statement, “We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life.
“The Governor also directed that Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.
“By this announcement, the outgoing Head of Service is directed to handover the affairs of the office to the Ag. Head of Service latest tomorrow, Wednesday 11th March, 2026,” the statement however reads.
