Kidnapped Schoolchildren: Tinubu can’t sleep, Aso Rock mood somber — Jibrin

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said President Bola Tinubu is deeply troubled by the recent wave of schoolchildren abductions across the country and is working relentlessly to secure the victims’ release.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Jibrin expressed sympathy for families affected by kidnappings and bandit attacks, describing the situation as painful and heartbreaking.

According to him, discussions within the Presidential Villa in Abuja are currently dominated by concerns over the abducted children and the worsening security situation.

“The schoolchildren who were kidnapped, it’s actually a difficult thing to talk about. My sympathy goes to the families of those kidnapped and to those who have lost their loved ones in the hands of kidnappers and bandits,” he said.

Jibrin maintained that the Federal Government is making every effort to address insecurity and ensure the safe return of those currently in captivity.

“What I can assure you is that the President and his government are doing everything possible to see that the security situation is tackled. They are also doing everything possible to ensure that those kidnapped are returned to their families,” he stated.

The lawmaker revealed that officials at the Presidential Villa were visibly concerned about the situation.

“I’m just coming back from the Villa and everybody is moody. The discussion is all about the kidnapped children and their families,” he said.

He further stressed that President Tinubu is personally invested in efforts to combat insecurity, insisting that the President has been unable to rest because of the crisis.

“Let me tell you something, the last person that can sleep, from what I know very well, is the President. He is doing everything possible to tackle the security situation,” Jibrin added.

He reiterated that the government remains focused on achieving the immediate release of the abducted victims while pursuing broader measures to curb kidnapping and banditry across the country.
