Kwankwaso has PhD, but Nigeria needs wealth creators like myself – Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said that what Nigeria needs at this time is a wealth creator and manager like himself.

Speaking during an interview on “60 Minutes with Kay” on News Central TV, Obi said no presidential aspirant in the country, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, can match his experience in wealth creation and resource management.

He was responding to earlier remarks by former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who had compared academic qualifications during the 2023 election cycle.

Obi said while qualifications vary, Nigeria’s present economic challenges require leaders with practical experience in building and managing wealth.

“I have built reputable businesses from scratch locally and internationally. Nobody today in this context, including the president, can claim to have passed through my experience,” he said.

He added that Nigeria does not need leaders who only share resources, but those who can create and efficiently manage wealth to ensure sustainable development.

Obi, who also criticised the “common trader” label often used against him, maintained that trading and enterprise-building remain critical pillars of economic development.
