The NAF also expressed appreciation to Nigerians and well-wishers in the country and abroad for their sympathy, prayers and support since the crash occurred.
“The Nigerian Air Force deeply appreciates the outpouring of sympathy, prayers and solidarity from Nigerians and well-wishers at home and abroad following the tragic accident involving NAF 931,” the post read.
The Air Force said the support had provided strength to the families, colleagues and loved ones of those who died in the crash. It also paid tribute to the deceased, describing their service to the country as one marked by honour, dedication and distinction.
“Your compassion and support are a profound source of strength to the families, colleagues and loved ones of those who served our nation with honour, dedication and distinction, and whose sacrifice will forever be remembered,” it added.
The post was accompanied by a photograph of the condolence register opened at the NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja.
The aircraft, which had 25 passengers and seven crew members on board, crashed into a swampy area in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
It was on a routine mission from Benin City, Edo State, to Lagos when contact with air traffic controllers was lost at about 9.13am.
President Bola Tinubu subsequently expressed condolences to the families of the victims and directed the Nigerian Air Force to commence a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
