Naira slips to N1,451.86/$ across official, parallel markets
The naira started the new week on a weaker note against the United States dollar in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets.
According to figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the currency fell to N1,451.86 per dollar on Monday, compared to N1,450.43 recorded last Friday.
This shows the naira lost N1.43 at the official market, signalling another round of pressure on the currency.
Simply at the black market, the Naira dipped the most by N15 on Monday to N1490 per dollar, down from N1475 on Friday.
This comes despite the surge of Nigeria’s external reserves to a six-year high of $45,11 billion as of December 5th, 2025.
The development also follows the CBN’s publication on Monday of a list of 82 fully licensed Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in the country.
