2027: NDC will never step down for Atiku, stop attacking us – Kwankwaso replies ADC Campaign Council
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate’s running mate, has ruled out withdrawing from the 2027 presidential race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of launching unnecessary attacks against him, presidential candidate Peter Obi and the NDC.
Kwankwaso said the ADC campaign team should concentrate on presenting its candidate’s credentials to Nigerians rather than making allegations against the NDC and its presidential ticket.
In a statement, the former Kano State governor accused the ADC-PCC of attempting to portray the NDC ticket as working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and suggesting that it could step down for the ADC candidate shortly before the election.
He described the allegations as unfounded and insisted that the NDC’s presidential ticket, known as the OK ticket, was neither working for the APC nor acting on behalf of any of its candidates.
“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party,” Kwankwaso said, expressing confidence in the ticket’s capacity, competence and readiness to lead the country.
He also urged the ADC-PCC to focus on addressing what he described as serious allegations levelled against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima, rather than targeting him and Obi.
Kwankwaso further warned that the ADC campaign team might attempt to mislead NDC supporters on the eve of the election by claiming that the party intended to withdraw in favour of the ADC.
The NDC chieftain maintained that his party had no reason to abandon the presidential contest, adding that its campaign had consistently focused on presenting its credentials and record of achievements to Nigerians.
He also criticised the APC-led government, saying it had failed Nigerians, while arguing that the ADC did not offer a better alternative.
According to him, the NDC ticket represents a credible option for Nigerians, with the capacity to address the country’s major challenges and unite citizens across the North and South.
Kwankwaso said the ticket would prioritise security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and economic development, among other critical sectors.
He described the NDC as the country’s most formidable and viable opposition party and urged supporters and Nigerians sympathetic to its cause to remain committed to its electoral victory.
Concluding his statement with the campaign message, Kwankwaso said: “Nigeria will be OK.”
