NDLEA apprehend 157 suspects, seizes 134kg of drugs in Ebonyi
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi State says it has arrested 157 people and seized 134.483 kilograms of illegal drugs in the state.
State NDLEA Commander, Mr. Jude Ahamefule, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abakaliki that the arrests and drug seizures were carried out between October and December 2025.
He said the suspects included 123 men and 34 women, adding that six of them have already been convicted.
Ahamefule listed the drugs recovered as cannabis sativa, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, and other psychotropic substances.
He listed the seizures as cannabis sativa (106.978kg); tramadol (100mg), 2,619 capsules; methamphetamine, 1.407kg (303 pinches); diazepam, 0.0589kg (700 tablets); and phenobarbitone syrup, 480ml, among others.
“We rehabilitated and discharged four clients, and admitted six within the period under review.
“Currently, a total of 12 clients are receiving rehabilitation in our facility.
“Forty-four suspects were referred to the counselling unit of the command in the period under review,” Ahamefule said.
He pledged the command’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
He urged those involved in such illegal activities to desist, both in the state and the country at large.
NDLEA is a federal law enforcement agency charged with eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.
