Ngige appears at APC caucus meeting hours after prison release
Former Anambra State Governor and Senator, Chris Ngige, attended the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting shortly after his release from Kuje prison.
Ngige, who recently served as Minister of Labour and Employment, had been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre over corruption allegations brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Earlier on Thursday, the court granted the former governor bail. He was said to have met all the bail conditions, paving the way for his release.
Barely hours after regaining his freedom, Ngige made a public appearance at the APC caucus meeting, drawing attention from party members and observers alike.
Ngige arrived at the State House Conference Centre after the president had arrived, and he was stopped by security for a while before he was finally cleared to join others.
His arrival attracted cheers from some presidential aides.
