NGX index climbs 4.48% as Investors record N129.88bn in Weekly Trades
Equity investors on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited witnessed a strong trading week between October 20 and 24, with a total turnover of 3.69 billion shares valued at N129.88 billion across 148,077 deals.
Data from the NGX revealed that the week’s performance marked a 69.55 percent jump compared to the 2.42 billion shares worth N76.61 billion traded the previous week in 126,591 deals.
The market closed bullish, as the All-Share Index (ASI) climbed by 4.48 percent to 155,645.05 points, pushing market capitalization to N98.79 trillion.
The financial services sector dominated trading activities, accounting for 2.36 billion shares valued at N54.38 billion in 63,561 deals, contributing 63.91 percent and 41.87 percent to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
The oil and gas sector followed, trading 551.51 million shares worth N19.2 billion in 10,539 deals, while the consumer goods sector came third with 180.9 million shares worth N13.27 billion in 19,428 deals.
Fidelity Bank Plc, Japaul Gold, and Access Holdings Plc led trading by volume, jointly accounting for 1.8 billion shares valued at N27.89 billion in 10,817 deals, representing 48.94 percent and 21.47 percent of total traded volume and value, respectively.
On the gainers’ list, Aso Savings and Loans Plc topped with a 32 percent rise to close at N0.66 from N0.50 per share.
Aradel Holdings followed with a 25.2 percent increase from N631 to N790, while Eunisell Interlinked Plc appreciated by 19.73 percent, moving from N48.4 to N57.95.
PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc rose by 14.19 percent from N39.1 to N44.65, and NASCON Allied Industries Plc gained 12.77 percent to close at N113.9 from N101.
Meanwhile, LivingTrust Mortgage Bank Plc led the decliners’ chart, dropping by 10.89 percent to close at N4.01 from N4.5.
Very Nigerian also reports that Juli Plc fell by 9.94 percent to N8.06, RT Briscoe Plc declined by 9.84 percent to N3.3, John Holt Plc dropped by 9.72 percent to N6.5, and Multiverse Mining and Exploration Plc dipped by 9.71 percent to N12.55 from N13.9.
