Nigerian Army begins recruitment for direct short service commission course

The Nigerian Army has opened applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.

In a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Army said the programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who have relevant professional qualifications.

It explained that successful candidates will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army, where their skills and expertise will be deployed to strengthen national defence and support ongoing security operations across the country.

“The available corps include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

“Applications are free of charge and must be completed online. The application portal will be open from January 7 to February 4 2026.

“Interested candidates are advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly submitted.

“For further inquiries, applicants can contact the Nigerian Army recruitment help lines on 08179269294 or 08109959294 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily. Additional details and application guidelines are available on the official recruitment website at recruitment.army.mil.ng,” the post read.

The Nigerian Army encouraged qualified Nigerians with the required skills and professional background to take advantage of this opportunity to serve the nation.
