Peter Obi has met with former Botswana President Ian Khama and former South African President Thabo Mbeki during his visit to South Africa, according to a statement released via his official communication channels.

The meeting reportedly took place in Cape Town before Obi proceeded to Johannesburg, where he expressed appreciation to both former leaders for their recent interventions on immigration-related concerns in the region, as well as their continued advocacy for peace, unity, and cooperation across Africa.

The statement highlighted that both former presidents remain influential continental figures due to their contributions while in office and their ongoing engagement in African development and governance discourse.

Obi also disclosed that he reunited with former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi during the Thabo Mbeki Africa Day lecture organised by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, where Fayemi delivered a keynote address focused on strengthening institutions and promoting unity across Africa.

The engagement, according to the statement, reflects ongoing dialogue among African political and intellectual leaders on governance, stability, and regional cooperation.
