Okochiri Palace denies King Ateke Tom’s link to Tinubu’s movement, issues final warning
The Palace of His Majesty, King Ateke Tom, has moved to quash claims linking the monarch to the political movement “Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN)”, calling the reports false, misleading, and highly disrespectful.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Palace stressed that King Ateke Tom has neither accepted nor been appointed as the South-South Zonal Coordinator of RTIFN or any political organisation.
The statement further clarified that visits by RTIFN representatives on February 3 and February 6 were purely courtesy calls in line with the Palace’s tradition of hospitality. At no time did the King authorise the use of his name, image, title, or royal office for political purposes.
“The continued misuse of the sacred image and authority of His Majesty is a gross misrepresentation and a deliberate affront to the Throne of Okochiri Kingdom,” the statement read.
The Palace issued a final warning to all parties involved to immediately cease and desist from associating the King, the Throne, or Okochiri Kingdom with RTIFN. All banners, publications, and materials promoting the false link must be withdrawn without delay.
The statement also reaffirmed that the Palace would take all necessary measures to protect the dignity, sanctity, and honour of the King and the traditional institution if the misuse continues.
