Pandemonium as reckless truck driver kills over 30 in Kano
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a huge loss to affected families and the entire state.
At least 30 people have lost their lives in a tragic accident at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State, after a trailer reportedly crashed due to reckless driving while heading towards Gujungu.
Several others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals.
In a statement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a huge loss for the victims’ families and the entire state.
The governor prayed for the repose of the deceased and for strength for their families to bear the loss. He also directed that all injured victims receive free medical care and ordered immediate deployment of medical and humanitarian teams to the scene.
Governor Yusuf further instructed the Ministry of Health to ensure timely and adequate treatment for all hospitalized victims. Additionally, the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs has been tasked with assessing the situation and providing support to the bereaved families.
The governor warned motorists, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid reckless driving and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent future tragedies.
