Plateau PDP elects new leadership team ahead of 2027 polls
The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Raymond Dabo as its new State Chairman, along with 38 other members of the State Executive Committee (SEC), to lead the party toward victory in the 2027 general elections.
Very Nigerian reports that the State Congress, held over the weekend, was described as peaceful and transparent, conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution. The newly elected officials were immediately sworn into office after the exercise.
Announcing the results, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, David Embughadu, revealed that Dabo secured 2,162 votes to emerge as the new State Chairman, while Gyang Tanko garnered 2,102 votes as Deputy Chairman. Michael Dachom was elected State Secretary, and Dr. Felix Choji became the Publicity Secretary, among others.
In his address to the delegates, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang hailed the congress as a milestone in the party’s history, describing it as a reflection of unity, maturity, and loyalty among members.
He acknowledged that although the zoning process initially stirred some disagreements, the peaceful resolution demonstrated the party’s strength and cohesion.
Governor Mutfwang also dismissed concerns over alleged defections, expressing confidence in the resilience and stability of the PDP in Plateau State.
