Police launch manhunt for disowned PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched a manhunt for Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the disowned Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), as investigations into the alleged fake government agency continue.

According to Premium Times, a police source disclosed that officers visited the home of Adeyemi’s parents in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, last Wednesday and again on Monday in an effort to locate him.

The source, who requested anonymity, said Adeyemi’s parents informed the officers that he had spent Monday and Tuesday in Ogbomoso before travelling to Abuja on Wednesday.

The officers reportedly arrived at the residence shortly after his departure.

According to the source, officers who first visited the family home temporarily seized the mobile phones of Adeyemi’s parents.

During a subsequent visit on Monday, another team of officers reportedly questioned Adeyemi’s father and requested the telephone numbers the family used to communicate with him.

The source added that Adeyemi’s father also accompanied the officers to another property allegedly owned by his son after they inquired about other houses linked to him.

Reports claiming that Adeyemi’s father was arrested could not be independently verified.

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Anietie Iniedu, did not respond to calls or text messages seeking official confirmation.

Adeyemi remains at the centre of an ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged establishment of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an organisation the Presidency has described as non-existent.

The Presidency has publicly disowned both Adeyemi and the council, maintaining that no such government agency exists.

Adeyemi, however, has denied all allegations and insisted he would defend himself in court.

The Federal Government has already filed an eight-count charge against him and two other individuals over allegations bordering on forgery and impersonation.

The matter gained public attention after the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, formally disclaimed Adeyemi and the purported council.

Investigators are also expected to question officials and institutions alleged to have processed documents and requests linked to the PFIPC as the investigation continues.
