Saka extends Arsenal stay with new five-year contract
Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal F.C., keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until 2031.
According to BBC Sport on Tuesday, the fresh deal makes the England winger the highest-paid player in the club’s history, with wages said to be more than £300,000 per week.
The 24-year-old’s previous contract, which he signed in 2023, was expected to run until 2027. However, the new agreement means Saka will remain in North London throughout what many consider to be the peak years of his career.
Reports say negotiations over the new deal had been ongoing for almost a year, with the player giving his verbal commitment to the club in January.
Saka’s extension is a major boost for manager Mikel Arteta, as Arsenal compete on four fronts in search of their first major trophy since 2020.
The Gunners currently lead the Premier League by four points and will face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final in March. They have also reached the knockout stages of the Champions League and the fifth round of the FA Cup.
This season, Saka has scored seven goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, remaining a central figure in Arsenal’s title push. His new deal follows a summer of long-term renewals for the club, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly all committing their futures to the Gunners.
Arsenal’s strategy of tying down key players reflects their ambition to maintain a core squad capable of competing domestically and in Europe over the coming years.
