Schoolchildren abductions not possible without sponsors – Pastor Ibiyeomie

The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has alleged that politicians are sponsoring the abduction of schoolchildren across Nigeria.

The cleric made the claim while reacting to the recent wave of kidnappings involving pupils and teachers in different parts of the country, including incidents reported in Oyo and Sokoto states.

According to Ibiyeomie, the kidnappings could not be carried out without the backing of influential sponsors, insisting that those responsible for the crimes were not acting alone.

“They are not just picking these children without sponsors. Politicians must be behind it; they can’t pick children and show their pictures,” he said.

The pastor also questioned why security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services, had been unable to identify and apprehend those behind the abductions despite advances in surveillance and tracking technology.

He argued that security operatives have the capacity to trace individuals through their communications and locations, raising concerns over the continued failure to arrest the perpetrators.

“Do you know that even the DSS can track people and know where they are, so how come they are not tracking these kidnappers?” he asked.

“There must be an invisible hand behind it because if you are calling from anywhere they would know the spot where you are, so how come in Nigeria nobody is ever caught?”

His remarks come amid growing public concern over insecurity and a recent spike in kidnappings targeting schoolchildren, teachers and rural communities across several parts of the country.

The allegations have not been backed by publicly available evidence, and no official response had been issued by the DSS at the time of filing this report.
