Security Agencies vow to comb forests, confirm abduction of Catholic School students in Niger
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that armed bandits attacked St. Mary’s Private (Catholic) Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, in the early hours of 21st November 2025.
The attackers abducted an undisclosed number of students from the school’s hostel around 2:00 a.m.
In response, police tactical units, military personnel, and other security agencies have been deployed to the area and are combing nearby forests in a bid to rescue the kidnapped students.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the students are rescued safely.
He also called on residents to remain calm and support security operations.
CP Elleman further warned that the incident will be thoroughly investigated, including taking action against the school management for continuing academic activities despite state government directives to close schools in the area due to ongoing security threats.
