Seven residents killed as gunmen invade Taraba community
At least seven people were killed in a violent attack on the Tor-Damisa community in Donga Local Government Area, Taraba State, on Wednesday.
Sources told Very Nigerian that armed men, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, stormed the community in the evening, firing randomly.
Security officers from the Taraba State Police Command confronted the attackers, resulting in a fierce gunfight. The clash ended with the reported deaths of seven residents.
Sources familiar with the incident told our correspondent that three police officers and four civilians were gruesomely killed during the deadly attack.
The attack has triggered panic in the community prompting some residents to flee to neighbouring communities.
Efforts by Very Nigerian to get response from the Taraba State Police Command was unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, Lasheh James did not take his calls.
He also did not respond to text messages sent to him as of the time of this report.
