Shettima vows decisive action against perpetrators of Maiduguri bomb blasts

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured that those responsible for the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, will be decisively dealt with.

Shettima gave the assurance on Wednesday during a visit to victims of the explosions receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The vice-president said his visit was to sympathise with the injured and families affected by the tragedy, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to ending terrorism across the country.

He noted that, beyond presidential directives to security agencies, the government has continued to invest in modern equipment and logistics to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

Condemning the attacks, which involved multiple explosions and left more than 100 people affected with over 20 confirmed dead, Shettima described the perpetrators as barbaric.

He stressed that no cause could justify the killing of innocent citizens, assuring that the government remains resolute in its mission to restore lasting peace and security.

The vice-president also pledged continued support for victims through relevant agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the North East Development Commission, and the Borno State Government.

Shettima was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Kadafur, alongside the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Prof. Ahmed Ahijo, and other senior government officials.
