Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant step toward his planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The registration took place on Sunday during a brief ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Jalingo. The APC chairman of the governor’s ward in Wukari Local Government Area conducted the exercise and presented the party’s membership card to Kefas.

Speaking shortly after receiving the card, the governor said his decision to register with the APC was in line with his long-standing plan to join the ruling party, noting that he had concluded wide-ranging consultations with the party’s leadership.

Kefas explained that his formal defection would have occurred earlier but was delayed due to the unfortunate abduction of students in Kebbi and Niger states, which, according to him, required sober reflection.

He added that a new date for his official defection from the PDP to the APC would be announced in due course.
