Tinubu approves salary increase for military personnel
Approvals include salary increases, improved allowances, equipment procurement, and better accommodation for soldiers.
President Bola Tinubu has approved an upward review of salaries and allowances for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to enhance their welfare and strengthen national security.
The announcement came during an interfaith breaking of fast with armed forces personnel at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.
Approvals include increased salaries, improved allowances for the Brigade of Guards, better equipment procurement, and provision of decent accommodation for troops.
The Chief of Defence Staff, represented by the Chief of Army Staff, said the measures would boost morale and operational efficiency for soldiers deployed against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.
President Tinubu praised the troops for their courage and sacrifices, acknowledging the challenges they face while serving away from their families. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuous investment in modern equipment, intelligence capabilities, and operational logistics for the military.
“These laudable approvals will go a long way in enhancing our operational efficiency, and I assure you that they are well received by all members of the armed forces,” the defence chief stated.
The president further expressed condolences to the government and people of Borno State over a recent terrorist attack, while commending Nigerians for their patience amid ongoing national reforms.
