President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the country will overcome banditry and terrorism, despite prevailing security challenges.

The President gave the assurance while commissioning the Gateway International Airport and state-owned aircraft in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, noting that ongoing reforms across key sectors are already restoring investor confidence and positioning the country for sustained growth.

“We will win over banditry and terrorism. Nigeria is resolved to be great and is on the path to greatness once again,” he said.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his developmental strides, describing the airport as a major economic hub that would boost trade, mobility, and investment.

The President also highlighted the people-centred nature of his administration’s policies, stressing that investments in infrastructure, energy, and agriculture are designed to impact all levels of society.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who attended the ceremony, described the airport as a landmark project and a significant milestone in the state’s history, noting its strategic importance and convenience.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the administration’s reforms, stating that improved federal allocations have enabled states to execute critical projects and meet financial obligations.

Governor Abiodun, in his remarks, said the project reflects the success of deliberate policies aimed at closing infrastructure gaps and enhancing Ogun State’s economic competitiveness, particularly given its proximity to Lagos.

He highlighted achievements across sectors, including road construction, housing, healthcare, agriculture, and energy, noting that the state has positioned itself as one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.

The event drew a host of dignitaries, including serving and former governors, federal officials, and business leaders, underscoring the significance of the project within Nigeria’s broader economic and infrastructure development agenda.
