President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s top security and intelligence chiefs at the State House, Abuja, as concerns persist over insecurity in parts of the country.

The meeting, which took place in the President’s first-floor office and lasted for over an hour, focused on improving operational efficiency and delivering better results in ongoing security operations nationwide.

Speaking with journalists after the session, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, described the engagement as thorough and productive.

He said the President issued fresh directives and strategic guidance aimed at strengthening the fight against terrorism, banditry and other security threats. According to him, the new instructions are expected to produce clearer coordination and more decisive outcomes on the ground.

General Oluyede assured Nigerians that the security agencies are working more closely than ever and are determined to ensure that citizens celebrate the coming festive season in an atmosphere of peace and safety.

Those present at the high-level meeting included the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke. Also in attendance were the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Adeola Ajayi.

The meeting underscores the administration’s heightened push for renewed synergy across the nation’s security architecture as the year draws to a close.
