Tinubu signs NIMC Act 2026 into law

President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act 2026 into law.

The President assented to the legislation on Friday at the State House in Abuja.

The development was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X account.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assented to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act 2026 at the State House on Friday,” Onanuga wrote.

The new law is expected to provide a stronger legal framework for the operations of the National Identity Management Commission and enhance Nigeria’s national identity management system.

Further details on the provisions and implementation of the Act are expected to be released by the Federal Government.
