US launches fresh airstrikes on Iran
The United States has carried out new airstrikes in southern Iran after intercepting drones said to pose a threat around the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a US official, American forces shot down four one-way attack drones before striking a ground control site linked to the operation.
The official said US forces later targeted an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas that was preparing to launch a fifth drone.
The US described the operation as a defensive action aimed at protecting forces and maintaining the ceasefire, insisting it was not intended to escalate tensions further.
Very Nigerian reports that this is the second time in three days that the US has carried out self-defense strikes against Iranian military targets in southern Iran.
Recall that on Monday the US carried out airstrikes against Iranian missile locations and boats that US Central Command said were preparing to launch mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
