Why I will support Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 – Gov Adeleke speaks after winning second term election

Osun State Governor and governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

Adeleke made the declaration on Sunday while addressing journalists following his victory in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The governor thanked Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to a free and fair electoral process, while describing the President as “a son of Osun State.”

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate, Mr President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said.

“Mr President is a son of Osun State. And I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.”

Adeleke also thanked the people of Osun State for re-electing him, promising to accelerate development across the state through his renewed five-point agenda.

“In the last few months, Osun people have been under very intense pressure. Today, the issues are settled by the grace of God and the people,” he said.

“I therefore dedicate this victory to the good people of Osun State. I deeply appreciate your resilience, your strong will and your unwavering commitment to democracy.”

The governor-elect promised to build on his achievements while addressing areas where his administration had fallen short.

“As you have trusted me again for the second term in office, I will not disappoint you. To serve you better, I will reinforce my strong points and correct my errors,” Adeleke stated.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner in the early hours of Sunday.

The Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, announced that Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.

A total of 1,005,800 votes were cast across the 30 local government areas, with 985,079 votes recorded as valid and 20,721 rejected.

INEC said 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election, which featured candidates from 15 political parties.
