YouTube names Gaise Baba, Omoni Oboli Nigeria’s top stars of 2025 ( Full List )
YouTube has unveiled its 2025 Nigeria rankings, offering a clear snapshot of the creators, music videos and content trends that shaped the country’s viewing culture throughout the year.
The latest list places gospel singer Akinade “Gaise Baba” Ibuoye and Nollywood star Omoni Oboli at the forefront of Nigerian engagement, highlighting how faith-inspired music and homegrown storytelling continue to dominate the nation’s digital landscape.
In a statement signed by Addy Awofisayo, YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, and cited by Very Nigerian on Wednesday, the platform confirmed Gaise Baba’s “No Turning Back II” as the country’s most-watched music video of 2025.
The inspirational track, which features Lawrence Oyor, captured the hearts of millions immediately after its release on May 16, amassing more than 41 million views in just six months.
Its reception underscores the continued influence of gospel music within Nigeria’s youthful online audience, many of whom rely on uplifting content as a source of motivation and spiritual grounding.
The list further reflects a competitive year for mainstream artistes. Shallipopi, Davido, Asake, Rema, Chella and Wizkid all secured prominent positions, showing the diversity of genres, ranging from Afrobeats to street-pop, that continue to thrive on the platform.
Collaborative projects such as Shallipopi and Burna Boy’s “Laho II,” as well as the all-star ensemble of Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn and Daecolm on “99,” also enjoyed massive traction.
On the creators’ side, Nollywood once again showed its unrivalled pull.
Omoni Oboli’s channel emerged as Nigeria’s top creator of 2025, while other industry heavyweights like Ibrahim Yekini, Ruth Kadiri, Maurice Sam, Uche Montana and Sonia Uche maintained strong fan bases with consistent storytelling, skits, and serialized drama content.
Brain Jotter continued his run as one of the country’s most influential comic creators, rounding off a list that blends humour, film and lifestyle storytelling in a uniquely Nigerian way.
