2027: Niger Gov Bago retains Deputy Yakubu Garba as running mate
Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has announced that his deputy, Yakubu Garba, will remain his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The governor made the declaration on Tuesday in Minna during a meeting with members of the State Executive Council and lawmakers.
Bago said the decision was based on Garba’s loyalty and unwavering support in advancing the administration’s development agenda for the state.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive governance and urged residents to maintain peace and avoid actions capable of creating political tension as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
He also called on stakeholders in the local government areas where their political representatives had resigned, to submit names of nominees to fill such vacancies.
The governor applauded the state legislators and the state officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their continued support to ensure the success of his administration.
Highlight of the event was the signing and presentation of the nomination form to his deputy. NAN
