Governor Francis Nwifuru has appealed to the people of Ebonyi State to forgive the shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers, urging them to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The governor made the appeal during a democracy thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki to commemorate the third anniversary of his administration.

Addressing worshippers, political stakeholders, government officials and religious leaders, Nwifuru acknowledged that mistakes may have been made in the course of governance by his administration, members of the National Assembly and lawmakers in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

He urged residents of the state to overlook those shortcomings and continue to support their elected representatives.

“Please forgive us; forgive me and the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” the governor appealed.

Reflecting on his three years in office, Nwifuru expressed gratitude to God for the progress recorded under his administration, noting that governance is a continuous learning process that demands humility, dedication and the understanding of the people.

He admitted that no government could claim perfection but assured residents that his administration remains committed to improving governance, expanding infrastructure and delivering more democratic dividends across the state.

The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining ongoing development programmes and policies aimed at enhancing the welfare and living standards of the people.

The thanksgiving service attracted several prominent political figures, including David Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, as well as Martin Elechi. Serving senators, government officials and other stakeholders were also in attendance.

Nwifuru’s remarks come as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum across the country.
