2027: Politics won’t stall FCT projects, Wike assures Abuja residents
According to the Minister, politics has its time, but his responsibility to serve FCT residents remains paramount.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that his political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections will not impede the completion of ongoing projects in Abuja.
Wike gave the assurance on Wednesday while inspecting several construction sites across the FCT, stressing that his dual responsibilities as FCT Minister and political actor would not compromise service delivery.
“I assure you, politics is not going to affect my work. The only way it will affect work is to make people happy by ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real and working,” he said.
The Minister emphasized that while politics has its own schedule, oversight and project supervision remain continuous. “The important thing is to pay the contractors and supervise them from time to time,” he added.
During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road project linking Baze University, Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Light Rail Station in the Idu area. The contractor has pledged to complete the project by May, in time to coincide with the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He also reviewed progress on the Body of Benchers extension building, which he said is approximately 80 percent complete, with only landscaping remaining.
In addition, the Minister inspected a 7-kilometre road connecting Airport Road to Tunga Madaki and neighboring communities, noting that the project fulfills a promise to improve connectivity across the FCT. He further directed that the process to link the new road with Zuba should commence immediately.
Wike’s inspections underscore the FCT administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that enhances mobility, supports education and legal institutions, and improves the overall standard of living for residents.
