2027: Gov Bala Mohammed delays decision on PDP exit by one week
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has postponed a final decision on whether to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), extending consultations with key stakeholders by one week.
The decision followed a closed-door meeting held at the Government House, where party leaders agreed to allow more time for broader political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
A committee led by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau has been tasked with reviewing options for possible political realignment.
Speaking on the development, the state PDP Chairman, Sama’ila Burga, said the extension is aimed at ensuring unity within the party while exploring viable political pathways.
The committee, which comprises lawmakers and local government chairmen, is expected to submit its recommendations at the end of the one-week consultation period.
The development signals ongoing political recalibrations within the PDP as key actors position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
