This alignment will usher in a new era” — PDP chieftain backs Obi–Kwankwaso concept

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said that the growing political alignment between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso reflects ongoing efforts to build national consensus ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

Ulasi noted that both politicians command strong influence in their respective regions, adding that any collaboration between them could significantly reshape the country’s political landscape.

He made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he described the development as part of a broader process of “building bridges across the country.”

According to him, the political weight of both Obi in the South and Kwankwaso in the North makes their potential partnership a significant force in national politics.

Ulasi suggested that such an alignment could contribute to political balance and continuity, arguing that there is an “unwritten understanding” regarding regional rotation of power.

He further stated that, in his view, the emerging political structure involving both figures could usher in a new phase of development if successfully sustained.

“The concept of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso is going to turn out to be an exciting and very strong political process,” he said.

Ulasi also expressed confidence in Obi’s prospects, claiming that the former presidential candidate currently has a strong chance of emerging as Nigeria’s next president, depending on political developments going forward.
