2027: Tinubu will win Kogi without campaigning – Yahaya Bello

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not need to campaign in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 presidential election, claiming the state already enjoys overwhelming support for the President.

Bello made the remark on Sunday during a town hall meeting with Kogi indigenes resident in Lagos, held at Teslim Balogun Stadium, shortly after attending a prayer and political endorsement gathering in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He described Tinubu as a “courageous and visionary leader,” adding that the President’s political influence had also played a role in his own emergence as governor during his time in office. Bello urged Tinubu to remain focused despite national challenges, insisting that support for him remains strong in Kogi.

According to him, “When the time comes, you will not need to campaign across Kogi State. The people are fully committed and the state will be delivered one hundred per cent.”

The former governor also used the gathering to call for unity among the major ethnic groups in Kogi State—Igala, Ebira and Okun—while urging residents in the diaspora community in Lagos to remain politically engaged and supportive of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He further encouraged mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election and also expressed support for Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in the 2027 governorship race.

Traditional rulers and community leaders present at the event reportedly commended Bello for convening the meeting, while also expressing support for ongoing political leadership in both Kogi and Lagos States.
