Former Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Ishaku Abbo, has purchased the Labour Party’s expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2027 governorship election.

Abbo completed the purchase of the forms on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, according to the Labour Party.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, confirmed the development in a statement issued on the same day.

Abbo, who served in the Senate between 2019 and 2023, previously contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC) before his removal by the Court of Appeal in October 2023, which later declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the seat.

He hails from Adamawa North, the same senatorial district as Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who is completing his second term in office.

The statement also revealed that Emmanuel Ben purchased nomination forms to contest the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State under the Labour Party.

Other aspirants who obtained forms include former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who is seeking to contest for Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

Adamu Blanzou picked forms for the Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency seat, while Jesse Ayenajeh is contesting the Toto Federal Constituency seat in Nasarawa State.

Similarly, Chidiebere Anyanwu obtained forms to contest for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, alongside several other aspirants across the country.

According to the party’s timetable, the sale of nomination forms began on May 6 and will close on May 16.

Party primaries for state Houses of Assembly and governorship positions are scheduled for May 27, while National Assembly and presidential primaries are fixed for May 29.
