BREAKING: Don’t push me to the wall — Gov Yusuf cautions Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has criticised his former political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over what he described as repeated attacks against him, warning that his silence should not be mistaken for fear.

Governor Yusuf made the remarks on Monday during the official affirmation of Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Kano South in Rano.

Speaking to party supporters, the governor said he had remained quiet in the interest of peace in Kano politics but cautioned that continued provocation could force him to speak out.

“For us, Kano peace is our priority, but if we are pushed to the wall, we will open our mouths and talk. Silence is not a sign of fear,” he said.

He added that his restraint should not be interpreted as weakness, noting that respect for elders had influenced his silence so far.

Yusuf also criticised recent remarks allegedly made about him, warning that further attacks could trigger political revelations.

The governor’s comments come after Kwankwaso, in a recent interview, criticised his political decisions and claimed the Kwankwasiyya Movement played a key role in his rise to office.

The exchange signals growing tension between both men following their political fallout earlier this year.
