Don’t expect sudden improvement in power supply — Newly sworn in Minister Tegbe tell Nigerians
Newly sworn-in Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has assured Nigerians that electricity supply will improve gradually but steadily as the Federal Government deepens ongoing reforms in the power sector.
He gave the assurance on Monday shortly after his swearing-in at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he was officially inducted into the Federal Executive Council.
Tegbe said the administration is currently addressing long-standing challenges in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, noting that reforms already being implemented would begin to yield progressive results.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient, stressing that improvements in power supply would not happen abruptly but would be steady over time as structural issues in the sector are resolved.
According to him, “We are committed to ensuring that Nigerians see gradual but consistent improvement in power supply. The challenges are known, and we are already working on generation, transmission and distribution. It will take time, but progress will be steady.”
The minister was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu at a brief ceremony attended by his spouse and senior government officials, following his confirmation by the Senate.
Also speaking after his inauguration, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, pledged to strengthen professionalism and improve efficiency within the ministry.
He said efforts would focus on restoring internal systems, boosting morale, and enhancing service delivery in Nigeria’s foreign service.
Both ministers are expected to assume duties immediately as part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to reposition key sectors of governance.
