A 40-year-old driver, Adesola Ogunrotifa, has been arrested by police detectives in Ondo State for allegedly stealing his employer’s vehicle after taking her to church in Akure.

According to a police source, Ogunrotifa drove his employer, Mrs. Remilekun, to Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, Akure, for a Sunday worship service. While she was attending the service, the suspect allegedly drove away with her Hyundai saloon car without her permission.

The source disclosed that the vehicle owner reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation. Detectives later tracked the suspect to Abuja, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

Police are continuing investigations into the case.

“Acting on credible intelligence and deploying strategic investigative techniques, a team of detectives from B-Division, Akure, tracked the suspect to Abuja, where he was apprehended,” the source said.

The police also recovered the Hyundai saloon car.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the suspect was arrested in Abuja and that the vehicle had been recovered.

Abayomi reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that criminal suspects are brought to justice.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, assuring them that all credible complaints would receive prompt attention.

The police spokesperson also commended the investigating team for what he described as a swift, intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the vehicle
