Kaduna Gov appoints new aides, reconstitutes five boards
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved a new round of appointments into key government positions and reconstituted the governing council of Kaduna State University, alongside the boards of five state-owned institutions, in a move aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing public service delivery.
Among the new appointees is entertainment entrepreneur and lawyer, Audu Maikori, who will serve as the Chief Strategic Adviser on Inter-Governmental Affairs.
The governor also named Umar Uba Maicitta as Senior Special Assistant on Community Relations, while Aminu Mohammed Gusau was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Policy Communications.
The appointments are part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve institutional effectiveness and drive efficient governance across key sectors.
In addition, Sani reconstituted the governing council of Kaduna State University as well as the boards of the Kaduna Mining Development Company, Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Agency and Kaduna State Media Corporation.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, inject fresh energy into the public service and accelerate the implementation of the administration’s development agenda.
The statement read in part, “As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, inject fresh energy into public service and accelerate the administration’s transformative agenda, Governor Uba Sani has approved the following appointments.”
For the Kaduna State University Governing Council, the governor appointed Dr Ibrahim Umar as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. Other members are Dr Ibrahim Hamidu (Zone 1), Malam Adamu Aliyu Shika (Zone 2), Mrs Ladi Barnabas Bala Bantex (Zone 3) and Alhaji Adamu Attah, representing the organised private sector.
Lawal Umar Meyere was named Chairman of the Kaduna Mining Development Company Management Board, while Hon. Addau Ahmed, Hon. Kabiru Tsoho Yakawada and Yohanna Allah Magani Christopher were appointed to represent Zones 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
Tanko Kokwain was appointed Chairman of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority Management Board, with Thomas Samuel Amale, Esther Ayuba Anthony and Mustapha Ahmed representing Zones 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
For the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Agency, David Umar Gurara was named Board Chairman, while Bello Nuhu Yakubu, Hon. Hassan Adamu Shekarau and Mrs Hannatu Sambo will represent the state’s three senatorial zones.
Similarly, Yakubu El Saad Lere was appointed Chairman of the Kaduna State Media Corporation Board, while Zubairu Balarabe Saminu, Binta Saidu and Habila Abel Adamu were appointed as members representing Zones 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
The governor said the appointments were based on merit, competence and commitment to the state’s socio-economic development.
“The new appointees are seasoned professionals and resourceful leaders carefully selected based on their proven track records, competence and unwavering dedication to the socio-economic development of Kaduna State,” the statement said.
Sani urged the appointees to regard their appointments as a call to service.
“While congratulating the new appointees, Governor Uba Sani also challenged them to view their appointments as a call to duty. He urged them to hit the ground running by executing their duties with utmost diligence, transparency and strict adherence to ethical conduct to ensure the rapid delivery of democratic dividends to the good people of Kaduna State,” the statement added.
