‘Reduce your convoy before advising musicians’ – Rufai fires back at Remi Tinubu
Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over her recent call on Nigerian musicians to cut back on spending on luxury cars and channel more of their wealth into charitable causes.
In a post shared on X on Sunday, Oseni argued that public officials should also demonstrate restraint in their own spending before urging others to support the less privileged.
He questioned the size of government convoys, suggesting that government leaders should lead by example.
“The president’s wife says musicians should buy fewer Ferraris and other luxury cars and spend more on charity. Can government officials also reduce their convoy?” Oseni wrote.
In the post, Oseni exposed what he identified as the First Lady’s convoy, arguing that public officials should lead by example when calling on others to make financial sacrifices.
His remark came after the First Lady’s speech at the launch of the National Community Food Bank in Lokoja, Kogi State, where she urged top Nigerian artistes, including Davido, Burna Boy and Asake, to establish charitable foundations and commit more of their wealth to supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
