The leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or have emerged as the FIFA World Cup heads into the semi-final stage.
France will face Spain in the first semi-final on Tuesday, while England take on Argentina on Wednesday, with several Ballon d’Or hopefuls still in contention.
According to the latest Polymarket projections, shared by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, France captain Kylian Mbappe is the current favourite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The 27-year-old forward, who has registered eight goals and two assists at the tournament, is given a 42 per cent chance of claiming football’s most prestigious individual award.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi is ranked second with a 30 per cent chance, followed by England midfielder Jude Bellingham on 17 per cent.
England captain Harry Kane, who has scored six goals at the World Cup, completes the top four with a 5 per cent chance of winning the Ballon d’Or.
